Two 20 hour trainings available this July

The Katuah Medics are happy to announce two upcoming 20 hour street medic trainings this July! One will be held in Nashville July 6-8 and one in Asheville July 20-22.

Street medics, or action medics, are volunteers with varying degrees of medical training who attend protests and demonstrations to provide medical care such as first aid, and work within communities to promote health and wellness. This 20 hour trainings will run Friday evening and all day Saturday and Sunday. The trainings will cover basic first aid and trauma response, and prepare trainees to medic at demonstrations as well as within their own communities. After completing the training, you will be qualified to run as a marked medic at demonstrations. You must be able to attend the full training - this is a condensed course, so partial attendances are not permitted.

Spring Protest is in the air!

Yes, it's that time where we brush up on our skills, dust off our medic bags and head to the streets. Spring is definitely here, and so it the call to action. First stop, Charlotte!

Your favorite medics will meet you in the streets of Charlotte courtesy of the Protest Bank of America Sharehold Meeting. With the City of Charlotte passing the Articles of Oppression (aka the Extraordinary Event Ordinance), this event is sure to keep the medics busy in the streets. As always, they've got your back.

In preparation of this event we're reaching out to the community, this means you, to have our back. We've successfully raised $1000 in our legal defense fund and we thank you for the support! But with the ever expanding ranks of our group, we've got more medics to cover in the streets. Clean out your couch, check under your car seat, and open your wallets. We're asking for your support during this action, as well as other upcoming events.

Case has been continued to December 21, 2012

Our lawyer appeared in court on our behalf today. The case has been continued until December 21, 2012. There has ben an ongoing conversation with the chief prosecutor about the case, many involving the arial footage of the arrests. Progress is being made, slow progress, but we continue forward in fighting these allegations of wrong doing.

Arrest affidavits released.

Our lawyer has forwarded the arrest affidavits for our case. As expected, it's a generic affidavit with no facts consistent with our case. The affidavits were identical for both Noah and myself. We're still hopeful this case will be dropped, but prepared to take this case trial.
On 9/6/11 around 1416 hours the defendant [Garcia] [Morris] was engaged in a
protest at N. Kings Dr. at E. 4th St. The Defendant intentionally and knowingly
blocked traffic by positioning in the center of the intersection in violation of
city code sec 19-241. Furthermore the defendant was yelling and screaming in
protest amongst a large crowd inflaming the situation. The defendant was
subsequently arrested for disorderly conduct and obstructing the street (city code
sec 19-241) this occurring in the corporate city limits of Charlotte.
Please donate to our legal defense fund as the case against us is taking way in the courts.
