Hey Medics!

Please forgive the delay, but we're busy working on a few projects over here in the southeast. As of this writing, we're deep in the hills of West Virginia preparing for a mass mobilization. Tis the season...

The listserv for DNC medic organizing is up and running. To get added, please send an email to:

streetmedicsdnc2012@lists.aktivix.org

It might take a few days for us to add you, as we have limited internet at the moment.

See you in the streets!

4 spots still open for the street medic training next weekend (July 20-22) near Asheville.

It's filling fast, so register here today!

Street medics, or action medics, are volunteers with varying degrees of medical training who attend protests and demonstrations to provide medical care such as first aid, and work within communities to promote health and wellness. This 20 hour trainings will run Friday evening and all day Saturday and Sunday. The trainings will cover basic first aid and trauma response, and prepare trainees to medic at demonstrations as well as within their own communities. After completing the training, you will be qualified to run as a marked medic at demonstrations. You must be able to attend the full training - this is a condensed course, so partial attendances are not permitted.

Backcountry Skills Track July 13-15 Western North Carolina

In an effort to better prepare folks for backcountry medical support,
Katuah Medics are taking to the hills of Western North Carolina the
weekend of July 13-15. This skills track will take the medic skills you
already have and supplement them with basic backcountry skills such as:

compass, map, and navigation
establishing shelters
backcountry hygiene
backcountry food and water
minimizing your footprint

This is a skill share, so folks with all levels of experience are
invited to bring their talents and share them with others.

Email katuahmedics4u (at) riseup (dot) net by July 8th for more information (location, gear list, etc...) and to RSVP.
