Hobet strip mine shut down!

Some of us are back in the NC mountains from West Va where we were part of shutting down the BIGGEST MTR MINE IN APPALACHIA!!

Much has happened post-action with unconstitutionally high bails set on 20 people, a reported beating in the jail and a giant upsurge in the public debate around strip mining in West Va. Use the RAMPS website for best source of updates and to lend support through legal fund, letter writing to prisoners, petition on the ludicrous bail, etc.
RAMPS updates

Katuah Medics are still currently on the ground in West Va to aid in prisoner visitation, support on release and support to campaigners working off this huge action through sleepless nights and much harassment. To directly bolster us in this work, use our donation button on this blog and email us at riseup address also in righthand side bar.

Please forgive the delay, but we're busy working on a few projects over here in the southeast. As of this writing, we're deep in the hills of West Virginia preparing for a mass mobilization. Tis the season...

The listserv for DNC medic organizing is up and running. To get added, please send an email to:

streetmedicsdnc2012@lists.aktivix.org

It might take a few days for us to add you, as we have limited internet at the moment.

See you in the streets!

Spring Protest is in the air!

Yes, it's that time where we brush up on our skills, dust off our medic bags and head to the streets. Spring is definitely here, and so it the call to action. First stop, Charlotte!

Your favorite medics will meet you in the streets of Charlotte courtesy of the Protest Bank of America Sharehold Meeting. With the City of Charlotte passing the Articles of Oppression (aka the Extraordinary Event Ordinance), this event is sure to keep the medics busy in the streets. As always, they've got your back.

In preparation of this event we're reaching out to the community, this means you, to have our back. We've successfully raised $1000 in our legal defense fund and we thank you for the support! But with the ever expanding ranks of our group, we've got more medics to cover in the streets. Clean out your couch, check under your car seat, and open your wallets. We're asking for your support during this action, as well as other upcoming events.

The fight in the streets still continues. Until then...
